Event Description

Children’s books are deceptively simple. Anyone who has tried to write one can attest to the mind-bending challenges faced throughout this unique creative process. In this full-day workshop, join writer and artist Matt Chun, one of the creators behind the unashamedly politically ‘Day Break’, which he made alongside Durrumbal and South Sea Islander journalist Amy McQuire to disrupt colonial narratives around ‘Australia Day’ in a narrative-rich, emotive and child-centred manner. You’ll get the chance to ask Matt about pitching to and working with both conventional and unconventional publishers within the Australian children’s book industry and receive his expert feedback about your writing and ideas.
