Event Description

Audio recording – and thus podcasting – is more approachable to many than it’s ever been. Yet the craft of making something that sounds good, holds interest and resonates with listeners is a skill like any other. What different approaches to audio storytelling might suit writers? What might you offer a listener? And how should you approach learning or collaboration?

In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of starting a podcast: what to consider, what you’ll need, and what’s possible. We’ll cultivate your inner editor, set reasonable expectations and increase your familiarity with a uniquely social, open-ended medium.

Participants to bring:
-     A smartphone or tablet (for making basic recordings);
-     A laptop, if you have one;
-     Something to take notes with;
-     An audio recorder, if you have one (not required)

Jon Tjhia is an award-winning radiomaker and award-losing writer, his recent work published by BBC Radio 3/4, Un Magazine, LIMINAL, the Powerhouse, Avantwhatever and WFMU. He currently teaches Intersensory Digital Publishing at RMIT University.
